We had a blast at Convivio this past weekend, and it was such a joy to see so many members of the Casa community coming together to listen to some amazing Tejano music by Francisco Chávez and friends and enjoy delicious food provided to Casa by Aster’s Ethiopian Restaurant. Some of our friends from the Hutto Visitation Group also brought food to share with everyone.
The event was bittersweet, with two of our wonderful staff members, Sarah and Emily, leaving Casa to pursue other ventures. We are sad to see them go, but we are so incredibly grateful for the time they spent at Casa and the lives they touched while here.
As the Texas heat subsided and cool dawn air swept in, residents, staff and board members, ESL teachers, and Casa supporters relaxed and listened to speeches given by our staff members, alongside a special song sung by our talented Togolese resident, Afiwa. It was an evening of bonding, laughing, and enjoying each others company. Thank you to all who came out and we look forward to our August celebration!
Convivio takes place on the last Sunday of every month and is open to the Austin community. Thank you for your continued love and support. If you haven’t heard, Casa is opening another house nearby for intact immigrant families! You can read more about this and donate to the cause on our rally page: https://rally.org/casamarianella
We will be sure to keep everyone posted on the renovations taking place at our newest house and we look forward to the memories that lie ahead.
