Casa Marianella recognizes that improved states of health and wellbeing require a multi-faceted approach, and aims to reduce barriers to healthcare access for its residents and Austin community members alike. Casa Marianella’s on-site, free-of-charge Benefits Clinic serves residents living in housing provided by the Casa Marianella shelter system, and members of the wider Austin community.

Our benefits coordinators and healthcare navigation specialists help clients access affordable medical and mental healthcare services and programs, and other public benefits programs, quickly. We screen individuals to determine which health insurance and medical programs they may be eligible for, including adult and children’s Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), CHIP perinatal, Austin Travis County’s Medical Assistance Program (MAP), Project Access, the CommUnityCare Sliding Fee Program and ObamaCare’s Health Insurance MarketPlace options.

In addition, our Benefits Clinic screens clients for eligibility and provides assistance with accessing state-funded programs such as SNAP food benefits (formerly known as food stamps), the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). We also provide referrals for other services such as counselling offered by non-profit organizations, services for survivors of human trafficking, local food banks, and financial assistance programs offered by local hospitals and medical institutions.
